Kim Schmitzm, a 38-year-old was/is the owner of Megaupload. Somewhere in the last decade he legally changed his name to Dotcom. He was arrested on his birthday i.e. on January 20th, 2012 in his 25,000-square-foot mansion in Auckland.
Mr. Dotcom was charged with criminal copyright infringement and conspiracy to commit racketeering. The Federal Bureau of Investigation shut down his Hong Kong-based website, which it claims was used to pirate half a billion dollars worth of entertainment content.
Mr. Dotcom really knew how to make billions out of an ordinary filehost and very well knew how to spend his money. As a result, Mr. Dotcom is said to own 18 luxury cars including a 1969 pink Cadillac, few mercedes SUVs, BMWs, and three carswith nuber plate saying 'Mafia', 'Hacker' and 'Stoned'.
But Unfortunately all of his luxury cars were seized by the US Government.
Peter Schinzler, who shot photos of Mr. Dotcom once in the late 1990s, says that Mr. Dotcom is a funny guy.
He was a mastermind behind Megaupload and parts of Megaupload i.e. Megavideo where people could watch streaming Movies or videos over the Internet.
