Nainital - Uttaranchal (India)

Nested in the picturesque Western Himalayan ranges, the Indian state of Uttaranchal comprises of hill divisions of Garhwal &, Kumaon and Terrai region. Located at the foothills of the Shivallik range, it offers destinations to suit the need of every traveler- adventure, pilgrim, nature, restless and weary.

The Kumaon region lies at a lower region therefore is more accessible. The entire area is dotted with emerald green lakes. the town itself is build around the periphery of Naini Lake from which it derives its name 'Nainital'. It has a pear-shaped lake, approximately two miles in circumference, and surrounded by mountains, also called as "The Mango Lake".

Nainital defines some ancient myths of India. Also called Tri-Rishi-Sarovar, points at the story of three sages- Atri, Pulastya and Pulaha, who upon finding no water in Nainital, dug a large hole filled it with water from the holy lake 'Manasarovar' of Tibet. According to lore, a dip in the
lake, "he Lesser Manasarovar," earns merit equal to a dip in the great lake.

Places to hunt:

1. Naini Lake:- It is situated at the heart of the city. The mango shaped lake is a tourist hot spot for people visiting there. The northern end of the lake is called 'Mallital' (upper portion) the southern part is called 'Tallital'.(lower portion). The two banks are connected by a huge bridge having small local shops and a post office. Just as a small world resting on the bridge.
